is it just me or does the big one (maybe infinity?) look like a... dang it > i cant remember what their called (i do that alot) but their used to like take documents from one computer to another or to move them onto a different login, but anyway thats what i think it looks like.
wow, i love your art! just a question, isnt the UNSC known for using a lot of smaller ships (like frigates and destroyers) because they are more expendable or cost effective since they are likely to be destroyed against the technologically superior covenant forces or something?
It used to be before Reach was lost. After The Great Journey almost plunder the Earth, UNSC decided to build several assault carriers, which is sized of Phoenix class, but loaded with rich amount of longsword strike crafts and deadiler MAC cannons. This is significantly more effect than using smaller frigate wave of attack.
ahh, ok. ive seen and heard that the UNSC used lots of smaller ships, but then you see massive carriers and battleships all over the place later on. even the infinity class battleship is nearly the size of a covenant assault carrier. im not much of a halo expert, but i do like their ships and space battles more than i like the actual games. also, isnt the covenant supercarrier still significantly larger than most of the UNSC's large warships?
Both are different species, if they seems fit to have slightly smaller, but with vast superior firepower than the bigger variant, then it's surely what humans actually wanted. Besides, Infinity is the masterpiece from desperate time, using whatever ONI researched and put them all together. Being too massive will lags the production speed, and that's not what they wants if the remaining covenant strength attack the human world once more.
Like this picture, Orion is also designed to put their utmost firepower against covenant ships, especially cruisers, while Athens is easily mass manufactured to be swarm killers against carriers (along with strike crafts), destroyers and frigates. Such duo is enough to stand a chance from scattering threats. For orbital/ground invasion however, frigates are remain necessary to unload troops into hostile world.
And some ships are improved the material design, and no longer having Halcyon-style platings that to occupying more than half of the room. But Halcyon class is a very good tanks against plasma fires, albeit their weak firepower. Usually to be the spartan carrier used to make a storm entry, or to protect weaker ships to flank enemy fleets.
